Screening of Ricebean [Vigna umbellata (Thunb.) Ohwi and Ohashi] Cultivars against Pulse Beetle [Callosobruchus chinensis (L.)]

Background: Ricebean [Vigna umbellata (Thunb.) Ohwi and Ohashi] is an important food legume grown in Nagaland, India. It a versatile underutilized pulse crop as dry also used green manure fodder. Insect pests are one of the major constraints encountered beetle, [Callosobruchus chinensis (L.)] pest that causes considerable damage to Vigna seeds. This experiment was carried out determine basis resistance among different ricebean cultivars against beetle which will help development resistant varieties. Methods: A laboratory conducted during January-June 2019 2020 where 16 were screened beetle. The biological parameters on studied. Correlation between C. physico-chemical Result: Significant difference observed terms seed size index have significant correlation with Cultivars higher protein starch content more susceptible while phenol tannin less susceptible. Based growth index, following three viz., Rhüjo, Akixi Anila Manyhü Rhi found be moderately resistant.
